In numerology, 1 is one of the nine digits every total reduces to: each position that comes to 1, life path, year or name number, takes on its colour.
The 1 is the starting point. It creates, leads and launches what others don’t yet dare. Its shape also says its distance: it moves in the world without quite melting into it.
For the Pythagoreans, unity comes before everything and comes from nothing. It can’t be divided, and multiplied by itself it stays whole. Many of the Ancients held it to be the source of numbers rather than a number, like the seed rather than the plant.
The 1 thinks in original ways, loves what has never been done and knows how to draw things out of the shadows and launch them. It insists that its ideas be respected and stays faithful to what is right when everything wavers.
It collaborates poorly and doesn’t like being told the way. When upset, it can become hard, even authoritarian, and vanity lies in wait if it judges that few people are on its level. Its work is to hear the rhythm of others without losing its own.
