How to calculate your life path number

Cut your date of birth into three pieces: the day, the month and the year with its four digits. Reduce each one to a single digit by adding its digits, and keep an 11 or a 22 if one appears. Add the three results, then reduce the total the same way. If it comes to 11, 22 or 33, that master number is kept, with its reduction noted beside it; some schools bring 33 down to 6. All the digits are also added at once: if that brings out a different master number, it is pointed out.

    For a birth on 12/03/1977: the day gives 1 + 2 = 3, the month 3, the year 1 + 9 + 7 + 7 = 24, then 2 + 4 = 6. Together, 3 + 3 + 6 = 12, then 1 + 2 = 3. This made-up date therefore has life path number 3.

Each master number has its own page: life path number 11, life path number 22 and life path number 33.

How to calculate your personal year

Take the day and month of your birth, then add the year you want to look at, here 2027. Add up all the digits together, then reduce the total until only one digit is left, between 1 and 9. For a personal year, you always reduce all the way, even if an 11 or a 22 comes up along the way. The number changes every year, and the cycle starts again at 1 once 9 is over.

    For a birthday on 12/03, that is 12 March, and the year 2027: 1+2+0+3+2+0+2+7 = 17, then 1+7 = 8. For this made-up date, personal year 2027 is an 8.

For the year ahead, use the personal year 2027 calculator.

What is the life path number in numerology?

It’s the number drawn from your full date of birth. It describes your route: the ground your life moves across, rather than the way you move, and what it asks you to learn.

What do your first names and birth surname tell you?

Each letter is worth a digit from 1 to 9, based on its place in the alphabet. All the letters added together give the expression number, the vowels give the soul urge number and the consonants give the personality number.

    Is the calculation free?

Yes. The calculation, the Seal, the life path number and the essentials of each number are free, with no sign-up. The full reading and its PDFs are part of the Numero 9 subscription.

Should I use my birth name or my current name?

Your birth name, exactly as it appears on your birth certificate. Like your date of birth, you received it without choosing it and it never changes. Marriage or a name you go by changes what people call you, not the name you were given.

Do I need to write all my first names?

Yes. Every first name on the birth certificate counts, in order, even the ones nobody uses, followed by your surname or surnames. Only accents and other marks are removed.

What are the master numbers 11, 22 and 33?

When a total lands on 11 or 22, it is kept as it is instead of being reduced, and it is read together with its digit: 11/2, 22/4. Here 33 is kept too, although some schools reduce it to 6. Personal years are always reduced.

Is Y a vowel in numerology?

Y is always worth 7. It counts as a vowel unless a vowel follows it, in which case it becomes a consonant. In Sylvia it is a vowel; in Maya it is a consonant.

    What is a personal year?

It is where the year falls in your nine-year cycle. You work it out from your birth day and month plus the year you are looking at, reduced to a single digit. It changes every year, and after 9 it starts again at 1.

What are pinnacles and life cycles?

The four pinnacles are stretches of life. The first ends at 36 minus your reduced life path number, the next two last nine years each, and the last runs to the end. The three cycles, drawn from your birth month, day and year, are the seasons of formation, action and harvest.

    What is a karmic lesson?

A digit from 1 to 9 that no letter of your birth name carries. Karma here does not mean a punishment, but a chain of causes and effects.

Does the life path number change over a lifetime?

No. It comes from your date of birth, which never changes. What moves on are your personal years, pinnacles and cycles, which the calculator places along your path.
